With all of the recent banter about Iran, and the U.S. getting the sanction’s against the Iranian Central Bank and oil, it might be worth noting that a CIA overthrow of Iran was performed in 1953, as detailed in this CIA-produced document which the New York Time published initially in April 2000.

In 1952, the Iranian Government was led by Premier Mohammed Mossadeq, who made it clear he was NOT reaching oil agreements with interested Western countries.  The CIA apparently reached the conclusion (along with the State Department) that Mossadeq HAD TO GO.  They apparently felt that the Iranian government would “fall behind the iron curtain”, and if that happened, would lead to a “major setback for the West in the Middle East.”

It was the stated aim of Operation AJAX project to “cause the fall of the Mossadeq government; to reestablish the prestige and power of the Shah, and to replace the government with one which could govern Iran according to constructive policies“.

Note that the document also states that one of it’s primary objectives is to “Specifically…to reach an equitable oil settlement.”  Once it had been determined that it was not in “American” interests for Mossadeq to remain in power, the CIA drafted the plan for his overthrow.

Ever the “Team Player”, the British Secret Intelligence Service was brought in to help formulate the plan, and in July 1953 the Department of State and the British Foreign Office granted authorization for the plan’s implementation.

The CIA obtained the approval of the President of the United States, and the plan worked as intended.

Mossadeq was railroaded out under the pretenses of “going communist” and the Shah of Iran eventually came in to power with the U.S.’s help.  This led to the eventual crisis in Iran which concluded with the Shah of Iran being chased out and the seizing of the hostages with the proceeding year-long dispute.

As you can see, there is no reason to believe that the “Twitter Revolution” that took place recently in Iran was not manufactured and controlled by the CIA, and that any attempt’s to paint Iran’s government as “Rogue” and seeking nuclear weapons should be viewed with high skepticism.
